Art, Clubs and Sport

Art, Drama, ICT, Music and Sport are taught as subjects and club activities. Other club are Cookery, Chess, Reading, Gardening, Papier Mache Modelling, Paper Plane construction, Board Games, Brass Rubbing, Debating, Bell Ringing and School Newsletter production. Children are involved in many branches of Art and do very well in the many Alderney, Bailiwick and mainland art competitions. Drama is important at Ormer House. Every older child is involved in an annual musical. The BFG was our production this year. Pupils often appear in island society productions and continue this interest at senior schools. Children have the chance to learn a wide variety of musical instruments and there are excellent opportunities on the island for performance. Any pupil proficient at a musical instrument is offered the opportunity to accompany the school choir at the Christmas concert and play for the school musical . Several older pupils play in the Island Band and others sing in the Church Choir. Music is seen as a vital part of school life and all children are encouraged to take part. The main sports are Football, Hockey, Tennis, Swimming, Athletics and Cricket or Rounders. A most positive factor involving children's games at Ormer House is the way boys and girls play all games together.
